5 Tips to Stay Healthy During the Coronavirus Lockdown

2020 has hit us hard with Coronavirus and it’s an overwhelming time for everyone! With all the work from home situations, it can be tough to keep away unhealthy food or to stop eat more than usual since the pantry is stocked up with a lot of stuff now. During these crazy times, staying at home is more important than anything else and we all are killing it and still keeping our sanity in check, but it’s also important to stay healthy. So I thought it would be fun to share a few tips that I like to follow to take care of myself and be healthy during this lockdown.

1. Stay Hydrated and Get Ready in the Morning:

Now that I’m working from home on my full-time job, I still wake up at 7 am and get ready to feel productive throughout the day. Also, I like to have a bottle of water at my desk to keep drinking water throughout the day. Keep the fluids going through your system to gather all that energy you need and to stay hydrated.

2. Reduce Alcohol Intake:

There’s nothing to do on the weekends now other than staying at home so there might be more alcohol involved now. One way to reduce the alcohol intake is by substituting it with other drinks like coconut water or some juice. I’m loving coconut water more these days than some Wine. So try to keep your alcohol intake low by switching to non-alcoholic drinks!

3. Opt for Salads when you can:

Since my food intake has increased due to all my 5 mins walk between work and crossing the pantry to quickly grab something to eat, we are opting for healthier lunch and dinner. I’ve been trying out Hello Fresh meals just to get the feel of restaurant meals. If that’s not something you want to do, simply switching to salads or a decent home-cooked meal when instead of junk food would be a good option to cut down a lot of calories.

4. Get off Work at Usual timings and Make time for Self-care:

If you’re someone like me, working from home, I know that it’s hard to get off work at 5/6 pm as you used to when you went to the office. That’s something I’m struggling with as well. But it’s very important to take care of yourself and to make sure that your mind and body are strong during this time. Sometimes, I like to use some flowery essential oils to keep myself calm and it might help you as well with all the stress. It calms me down and also works as a room freshener. You can also make some time to maybe read a book or try a new skin routine.

5. Do something Fun!

I like to play Xbox or read a book once I get off work just to feel rejuvenated for the next day. We also have been trying new recipes through Hello Fresh boxes. So try something new or something fun every day so that you feel fresh and inspired for the next day.

Swap out some of the unhealthy ingredients from your recopies like white flour with wheat flour or oat flour. Replace oil with coconut oil and sugar with honey or jaggery. This will definitely help in the long run and can become a long-lasting habit.

At the end of the day, we know that these are crazy times and by staying home we are helping in the control of the Coronavirus. Please take care of yourself and your family and let us get through this time with being kind to the people who need help.

Get Home, stay happy and healthy!
